Welcome back, Vikings!
This is a reminder that students will return to school tomorrow, Wednesday, October 16th. We are so excited to welcome everyone back and look forward to resuming our normal schedule.
While this has been a challenging time, we are incredibly proud of how our community has come together. We truly are #OneLowndes, and #BetterTogether!

Good Evening, Viking Family,
Even though our schools are closed, your student will still be able to enjoy meals at no cost Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, October 9th through 11th.
Schools will be distributing shelf-stable breakfasts and hot lunches from 11 am to 1 pm drive-thru style while supplies last. Meals are only available for students and should be picked up from the school they attend.
All school campuses will be serving meals with the exception of Hahira Elementary School, Pine Grove Middle School, and Parker Mathis Learning Center. Students who attend these schools will pick up from the following locations:
Hahira Elementary will pick up at Hahira Middle
Pine Grove Middle will pick up at Pine Grove Elementary
And students who attend Journey or Lowndes Alternative Program at Parker Mathis Learning Center should pick up meals from their home school.
Again, meals will be distributed this Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, October 9th through 11th from 11am to 1pm while supplies last at your child’s school campus.
We hope they enjoy their meals, and we look forward to seeing them back at school after Fall Break on Wednesday, October 16th!

Viking Family,
We have been eagerly anticipating the return of our students; however, the safety of both our staff and students remains our top priority. Following a reassessment today, we have identified over 130 roads that present challenges for bus navigation or are currently impassable due to debris and obstructions from downed lines. We have been advised it is not safe for our buses to navigate many of our roadways. In addition to this, I-75 is grid locked due to evacuees, and this is a main thoroughfare for our buses. We are actively in communication with Lowndes County officials, Lowndes EMA, and local utility companies, all of whom are working diligently to resolve these issues in our community. We appreciate their tireless work and recognize that it will take more time to clear roadways so we can safely transport students to school. With this in mind, students will return to school following Fall Break on Wednesday, October 16th.

Due to the many families who were impacted by the hurricane, we have decided to postpone Career Day to a later date. Thank you to everyone who has already signed up and we will let you know as soon as another date can be set. As always, please let us know if we can be of service to you in any way. Thank you!

Research has proven that early childhood experiences and education shape the brain. One of the many reasons that quality learning is essential for young children! #GaPreKWeek

Mrs. McSpadden, Mrs. Lopez, Ms. Benefield, & Mrs. Scott joined forces with the community to help load over 400 cars at the Flying Tiger Storage Point of Distrubution. #vikingvolunteers

We are excited to have our staff return to work on Monday, October 7th, to prepare to welcome our students back on Wednesday, October 9th. Due to storm damage, most schools and facilities will not have internet access. With Monday and Tuesday used as planning days, we are confident in our ability to continue providing quality education for our students with or without the Internet. Though most of our facilities sustained minor damage, our staff has been hard at work to prepare for safe student returns. Please be patient with us as we reestablish phone access before students return. Email will be the most efficient contact method at this time. As we assess bus routes on Monday, we will contact families where bus routes need to be adjusted.
We look forward to seeing our One Lowndes family back together next week! #OneLowndes #BetterTogether See less

Due to Tropical Storm Helene as well as Governor Kemp issuing a State of Emergency in Georgia, and Chairman Bill Slaughter declaring a State of Emergency for Lowndes County, all Lowndes County Schools and System Offices will be closed on Thursday, September 26th, and Friday, September 27th.
All after-school activities, including the Lowndes - Colquitt football game, are postponed.
As always, the safety of our staff and students is our top priority. We urge everyone to use caution and be safe. We will remain in constant communication with Lowndes County Emergency Management and local officials. Please follow EMA Lowndes on social media for ongoing updates.
As we monitor weather conditions and the impact in our area, we will promptly notify you of any other schedule changes. We look forward to seeing our One Lowndes family back at school on Monday, September 30th.

"Save the date for the Fall Festival! Thursday Nov. 7th from 4:40-6:30pm. Additional details on ticket sales, activities, vendors and more will be shared soon! In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Dr. Hicks' second-grade gifted class learned to create pixel art in Google Sheets, inspired by Mexican painter Frida Kahlo through the "Faces of Frida" exhibit on Google Arts & Culture. The students explored Frida Kahlo's artwork for inspiration and learned how to use Google Sheets to create a pixel art project by assigning specific colors to cells and text using conditional formatting rules.
