Dr. Sam Lassiter, Assistant Principal

Dr. Lassiter began his professional career as a 1983 graduate of Mercer University and moved forward to be a 1986 graduate of Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law. He was in private practice of law and that included being both municipal and juvenile court judges. In 1993, he decided to follow his true passion and returned to school to gain his teaching certification. After obtaining his teaching certification, he closed his law practice and was hired to teach in the social studies department of Lowndes High School in the fall of 1994. He taught at Lowndes High for nine years, predominantly teaching government and law.  During that process, he also taught as an adjunct professor in the political science department at Valdosta State University.

In 1998 he started his Master’s program at VSU and came to realize it was a real juggle to teach every day, take classes two nights a week and teach classes two nights a week, so he chose to stop teaching at VSU and focus on his graduate work. He earned his Masters, Education Specialist and Doctorate degrees at Valdosta State University.

Dr. Lassiter has served as the assistant principal at Moulton Branch Elementary (2003-2005), Parker Mathis/Westside Elementary (2005-2010), Dewar Elementary (2010-2012), and finally here at LPE since 2012.

Dr. Lassiter is proud to be at Lake Park Elementary and often declares that Lowndes County Schools have his heart.
